Common Questions

  • How do I Book an Appointment

Please call or text me directly at (413)-213-2678. You may also email me at michelle@brighterdayptw.com. I offer personal care, and it starts from scheduling an appointment. I will help find a time that works for both of us.

  • Do I Need a Referral?

I am a direct access provider. In the state of Massachusetts, a referral from a physician is not required to attend Physical Therapy. At any time under my care if I feel additional medical examination or treatment is indicated, I may encourage you to see a physician or can refer you to a physician. Having said this, It is best to have an annual well visit with your physician. Physical Therapy is not a replacement for medical care.

  • Payment Options

Payment is due at, or before the time of service. I currently accept cash, check, card, FSA/HSA, or Zelle.

In order to provide the level of care and time I need with my patients, I currently do not accept insurance. I am a fee for service provider in order to focus my energy on you and your goals rather than adhere to the limitations of insurance companies.

Upon request, I will provide an itemized super bill with the codes required for you to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement, using your out of network benefits for physical therapy. Please contact your insurance provider to determine your out of network benefits.

  • General Patient Policies

I will be respectful of your time, which is why I ask the same of you.

    • Please arrive on time- if you are late this takes away from my time with you.

    • Please no phone use during our session.

    • Give 48 hour notice for cancellations to avoid a late fee.

    • Always call if you will be late, or miss your visit.

  • Covid-19 Precautions

    • masks are optional

    • I clean and disinfect rooms and high touch surfaces between appointments.

    • If a patient or their family member feels ill or sick, we ask you to please contact the clinic to discuss the best approach.

    • If you are in contact with a member of our staff who tests positive for COVID-19, we will contact you so you may take precautionary measures.

What to Expect- First Visit (Pelvic Health)

  • All Genders have a Pelvic Floor. It is a group of muscles in the pelvis we can voluntarily control. The muscle tissue of the pelvic floor is like any skeletal muscle in the body, such as the biceps or calves. When the pelvic floor muscles show signs of weakness, pain or inability to do their job, the issue needs to be addressed!

  • In a private treatment room you and I will discuss one-on-one what brought you in to see me. I will ask general and specific questions about pooping, peeing, sexual health, and daily activities. This is your chance to share with me your concerns. Please note there is no “too much information” when talking about pelvic health. I have heard it all, and likely treated it as well.

  • After gathering important details, I will perform an external assessment of your posture, movement assessment, and range of motion. If your symptoms warrant an internal pelvic exam and you feel ready, we will perform one on the first visit. If consent is given I will enter vaginally, or rectally to assess the tone, strength, and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles. Often times this is the piece of the puzzle you have been missing in finding relief.

  • After the internal exam, you will get dressed and we will discuss what we found during our evaluation. Treatment begins immediately as we we discuss your personalized treatment plan. I will answer any questions, and together we will determine if follow up appointments are necessary. It truly is a smooth and relaxing visit. It is important to me you understand “why” I am suggesting certain lifestyle or behavior changes.
